What about Morality (see Acts 10)?
- Acts 10:1-6
There was a certain man in Caesarea called Cornelius, a centurion of what was called the Italian Regiment, a devout man and one who feared God with all his household, who gave alms generously to the people, and prayed to God always. About the ninth hour of the day he saw clearly in a vision an angel of God coming in and saying to him, Cornelius! And when he observed him, he was afraid, and said, "What is it, lord?" So he said to him, "Your prayers and your alms have come up for a memorial before God. Now send men to Joppa, and send for Simon whose surname is Peter. He is lodging with Simon, a tanner, whose house is by the sea. He will tell you what you must do."
- Acts 10:22
And they said, "Cornelius the centurion, a just man, one who fears God and has a good reputation among all the nation of the Jews, was divinely instructed by a holy angel to summon you to his house, and to hear words from you."
- Acts 10:48
And he commanded them to be baptized in the name of the Lord. Then they asked him to stay a few days.
What about the Conscience (Acts 23, 24, 26)?
- Acts 23:1
Then Paul, looking earnestly at the council, said, "Men and brethren, I have lived in all good conscience before God until this day."
- Acts 24:16
This being so, I myself always strive to have a conscience without offense toward God and men.
- Acts 26:9-11
Indeed, I myself thought I must do many things contrary to the name of Jesus of Nazareth. This I also did in Jerusalem, and many of the saints I shut up in prison, having received authority from the chief priests; and when they were put to death, I cast my vote against them. And I punished them often in every synagogue and compelled them to blaspheme; and being exceedingly enraged against them, I persecuted them even to foreign cities.
What about Faith Only (beginning in James 2)?
- James 2:17
Thus also faith by itself, if it does not have works, is dead
- James 2:24
You see then that a man is justified by works, and not by faith only
- James 2:26
For as the body without the spirit is dead, so faith without works is dead also
- Matthew 7:21
Not everyone who says to Me, 'Lord, Lord,' shall enter the kingdom of heaven, but he who does the will of My Father in heaven
- Mark 16:15-16
Go into all the world and preach the gospel to every creature. He who believes and is baptized will be saved; but he who does not believe will be condemned
- Revelation 22:14
Blessed are those who do His commandments, that they may have the right to the tree of life, and may enter through the gates into the city
What about Faithfulness (beginning in 2 Timothy 4)?
- 2 Timothy 4:6-8
For I am already being poured out as a drink offering, and the time of my departure is at hand. I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith. Finally, there is laid up for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous Judge, will give to me on that Day, and not to me only but also to all who have loved His appearing
- Revelation 2:10
Do not fear any of those things which you are about to suffer. Indeed, the devil is about to throw some of you into prison, that you may be tested, and you will have tribulation ten days. Be faithful until death, and I will give you the crown of life
What about Falling from Grace (beginning in 1 Corinthians 9)?
- 1 Corinthians 9:27
But I discipline my body and bring it into subjection, lest, when I have preached to others, I myself should become disqualified
- 1 Timothy 4:1
Now the Spirit expressly says that in latter times some will depart from the faith, giving heed to deceiving spirits and doctrines of demons
Morality Saves
The Conscience is a Safe Guide
Faith Only Saves
Faithfulness Is Not Necessary
We Cannot Fall From Grace
Morality does NOT save
The Conscience is NOT a Safe Guide
Faith only does NOT save
Faithfulness IS necessary
We CAN fall from grace
